Different physical and chemical treatments are used in industry to improve the qualities of certain metal parts, including their strength and appearance. These techniques mean a less noble material can be used by improving its properties locally. Over the past few years, the number of accidents in this sector has risen sharply, mainly due to devastating fires. In collaboration with BEA-RI (Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyse sur les Risques Industriels, i.e., industrial risk investigation and analysis bureau), BARPI is sharing the lessons learnt from feedback on accidents in this sector.
