At 2:30 p.m. in a refinery, gasoline leaked from a defective pump used for light products transfer. A vapour cloud formed and ignited on the furnace of the nearest unit, causing an explosion (UVCE) and a fire. Among the technicians that were preparing the filling of a storage tank, 4 people were killed and other 2 injured. The unit was damaged. The Internal Emergency Plan was activated and the nearest refinery units were stopped, but no off-site emergency measures were necessary.
