Events with cross-border effects are, by definition, of significant magnitude and, for the majority of them, are major accidents. 28 events registered in the ARIA database are identified as belonging to this category, 23 of which occurred in the territory of the present European Union. This document details the characteristics of the events and outlines the lessons learnt.
