In a paper industry, during unloading of a rail tank into a chlorine storage tank , the steel-reinforced transfer hose burst, resulting in the emission of 29 t chlorine into the environment. Isolation valves are closed to stop the chlorine emission. The emitted chlorine is treated with caustic soda in the chlorine destroyer plant. The population is warned. 70 people inside and 137 outside the establishment are injured due to the toxic release.
