A hurricane damaged the floating roof covering a petroleum storage tank at a refinery, causing it to sink. Employees at the facility were able to transfer the contents of the tank to another reservoir. The release of volatile organic compounds was estimated at 5,550 kg. This hurricane was the cause of numerous accidents in the region (ARIA 50399).
