An employee in an underground quarry got his leg caught under a stone block at around 3:45 p.m. During a storage operation between the cutter, in automatic mode, and the wall, the alignment of the limestone blocks cracked along its entire length and fragments fell off. The accident happened about 2 km from the entrance. The victim’s co-workers were able to remove him and then he was handed over to the emergency services. The cutting operation in progress had caused the separation of a crack that had been invisible before the accident. Also, the safety regulations restricting access to the facades during the cutting operation were not respected.
