In an agricultural cooperative, fire broke out around 1 am following an electrical short-circuit caused by a tractor parked under a hangar. The fire destroyed this hangar at the level of departmental road RD 96 along with farm machinery and a stockpile of straw and milk powder intended as feed for the calves. The walls still standing and vulnerable to collapse onto the road were demolished. The hangar would be rebuilt further from neighbouring uses and with greater accessibility. The farmer was required to have the farm’s electrical installation inspected by an independent certified electrician every 5 years, in compliance with current regulations (as per Ministerial order issued 7th February 2005).
