Ignition occurred on a reactor containing 900 kg of trimethylolpropane on the first floor of one of the chemical plant’s buildings. The site was evacuated. Power was cut off and the premises ventilated following the reactor temperature drop. An employee, who sustained second-degree burns to the face and first-degree burns to the arms, was hospitalised and another entered a state of shock. According to company chemists, the accident was due to lightning.
