A fire broke out in the machine room of a 5,000 m² printing factory. It took around forty fire-fighters almost two hours to control the fire, as the presence of ink and solvents significantly complicated their task. A cloud of black smoke could be seen within a radius of more than 15 km. An employee received minor burns. Thirteen machines were destroyed, some of them costing up to €1.5 million; the presence of a fire door did however prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the premises (workshops, forwarding and rotary presses). A metal framework threatened to collapse onto the adjacent company (a caravan and boat builder). According to the operator, a short circuit had caused the fire.
