Fire broke out in a 200-m² depot belonging to a company specialised in recovering and crushing scrap metal and vehicles. Around 8:30 pm, passers-by noticed thick black smoke emanating from the facility and called fire services; 50 tonnes of crushing residue were ignited inside the depot containing waste. Fire-fighters at the scene quickly controlled the blaze and avoided a new outbreak; they left the site around midnight. The accident was limited to the depot storing waste: a portion of the crushing residue burned, a section of depot siding was blackened and deformed, a roof outlet melted, and both the fire detection system and conveyor belts were damaged. For an unknown reason, this detection system had not functioned properly. Following the accident, the Inspection Authorities for Classified Facilities proposed an injunction regarding this faulty detection system.
