In the afternoon, a violent explosion occurred on a crude oil well, killing two people and injuring five, of whom 2 seriously. According to a Public safety spokesman, the well, operated by a subcontractor, exploded when workers were attempting to bleed the line. A release of natural gas caused the wellhead to crack and explode, sending a large pipe to the surface. The well did not catch fire.
