Beyond criminal acts targeting “Seveso” installations and having a strong media impact, the fight against “ordinary malicious acts” is a stake for all operators! Indeed, 4% of accidents occurring in Classified Facilities are related to malicious acts. This accident cause, often overlooked in risk analyses and safety reports, therefore deserves to be dealt with.

This synthesis report is based on an analysis of 850 accidents involving malicious acts. It presents the most targeted installations and their vulnerabilities, the motives and methods used by ill-intentioned individuals, as well as points of heightened vigilance and areas for improvement to protect against malicious attacks.
