A tetrachloroethylene discharge occurred in a dry cleaners. A valve accidentally left open by the site manager caused this release. The product used to regenerate rinsing solvents by means of distillation spread into nearby residences via the pipe network. Notified by a neighbouring crepe restaurant, fire-fighters proceeded by evacuating 20 local residents, closing the valve and then ventilating the individual apartments concerned
