Water in the river DORON-DES-ALLUES was captured and diverted to the river DORON-DE-BELLEVILLE via an underground tunnel in order to supply a hydroelectric power station. As the DORON-DE-BELLEVILLE was flooding (current greater than 25 m³/s and risk of bridge piles collapsing), the town of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville asked that the water intake be closed. The operator of the dam did so. Starting at 9:00 a.m., the 5 m³/s that had been captured was returned to the DORON-DES-ALLUES. The stream flows below the Méribel ski resort, through underground passages in places, particularly at the location of the ski lifts. As a result, the operator informed the ski-lift workers of the risk of the grilles located upstream of the culverts becoming blocked. At 1:30 p.m., the Allues town hall reported water overflowing at the bottom end of the ski lifts. The operator diverted 2m³/s to the DORON-DE-BELLEVILLE; the stream stopped overflowing at 2:15 p.m. Several buildings were flooded to a height of 30 cm.

Following the event, an information-sharing agreement was signed between the operator and the town of Allues.
