A butane explosion followed by a fire occurred at around 12:15 p.m. in a 6 m² lean-to built against a house. The owner of the house was found dead; his mother and his 6-year-old daughter were admitted to hospital suffering from shock. Fire-fighters brought the fire under control with the help of a water nozzle and a foam nozzle. The lean-to was gutted. The explosion and subsequent fire were caused by a leak on the connection between a gas hose and a 13-kg LPG cylinder installed in the kitchen of the house. Gas had flowed along a water pipe of the electric water heater via the wall between the house and the lean-to. It had then built up inside the lean-to, which was unventilated. The owner apparently set off the explosion when he turned on an appliance inside the lean-to.
