Around 2:30 pm, fire-fighters were called for 2 leaks detected in a marshalling yard, one as a slow drip adjacent to a drainage coupling on a methyl methacrylate tanker car, the other one near the gauge of an LPG tanker car. A 300-m safety perimeter was set up and 2 companies (one being the rail operator responsible for the tanker cars), accounting for 230 personnel in all, were evacuated. The slow drip was stopped first, reducing the perimeter to 40 m at 6 pm. A team dispatched by the transport company patched the LPG leak around 7 pm.

The cause of the methacrylate leak remained unknown. A nozzle plug left open on the LPG car’s indicator gauge during filling resulted in the second leak. Rail traffic was not affected.
