A 20-kg leak of fluoridated refrigerant (F22), of the 55 kg contained in a refrigeration installation, occurred at 2:49 pm at a subcontractor specialised in eyewear and performing electroplating. First responders evacuated 86 employees, 32 of whom felt ill effects; the cases of headaches and vomiting were examined onsite, with no one taken to hospital and all sent home to recover. According to rescue workers, toxic emanations had entered the premises via ductwork.

This installation, set up inside the plant in January 2008, was originally moved from another site where activity had been shut down. The refrigeration specialist at the time pointed out that the machinery had been exposed to normal wear. The installation was purged, and the fluoridated refrigerant recovered in a mobile tank, with oversight by fire-fighters, was to be destroyed.
