At 1:30 am, fire broke out in the mixing room on the 4th floor of a tyre factory and spread to the electrical wiring of the neighbouring cell. A significant release of thick smoke was observed but no flame was visible. The sprinkler system was activated and a water cannon set up while awaiting for the fire crew, which had been alerted at 1:35 am. Upon their arrival at 1:50, the fire was brought under control. The “mixtures” staff were grouped together in the changing rooms and no one was injured. The lines were stopped and power supply to the motors cut off. Little apparent damage was observed, except for water damage on the ground floor. The shutoff valve for discharges to the OISE River was closed at the beginning of the warning. Manufacturing staff carried out the clean-up, and factory lines were shut until 6 am.

The fire resulted from a short circuit in a lighting strip. Damage was estimated at several thousand euros.
