A leak of liquefied petroleum gas occurred at around 1 pm during works on a 4-inch pipe connecting a storage reservoir under a slope to the premises of a neighbouring company.

These works were carried out following a previous leak of LPG detected on 6th July (ARIA 33410) from a 2-inch corroded pipe connecting the cylinder filling zone to the sloped reservoir. The IOP siren was sounded and the IOP activated at 1:10 pm. Pipe spraying proceeded, and the situation was brought under control in just over 30 min. The IOP was lifted at 1:37 pm. Despite degassing prior to the works, a pocket of gas was formed and the LPG escaped from the flange opening on the pipe.
