A tetrachloroethylene leak in the gaseous phase occurred at 4:50 pm in a dry cleaners of a shopping mall. Rescue personnel evacuated the shop and proceeded to ventilate the premises. Eight shop employees and one customer were physically affected by the fumes and received an onsite medical exam by the fire-fighting unit’s physician; 6 of them required treatment at a major hospital. Once ventilated, the mall could be reopened at around 8:00 pm.
