An electrical fire broke out at around 1 pm in the metal structure and siding building of a mushroom canning factory. The fire spread between a cold room and the under-roof sidings. Firefighters intervened at 2.20 pm with fire nozzles. A large amount of smoke was released related to the combustion of polystyrene insulation and the fire quickly spread to a second warehouse. Water supply problems in the sector slowed the actions of the firefighters who had to call for backup. At around 4.33 pm, the gendarmes (French military police) and electricity, gas and water utilities officers were at the scene. At around 2.38 pm, the water supply was re-established using a suction line in the LOIRE river. The firefighters mobilised a tremendous amount of resources and succeeded in installing a water curtain to stop the flames from spreading. The fire was contained at around 3.15 pm but was still intense. At 4.17 pm, the fire reduceded in intensity and remained contained in one building thanks to a foam concentrate which helped to protect certain machines. At around 9.30 pm, the fire was extinguished and the clearing work was practically finished using a backhoe loader. The fire did not cause any casualties, but possibly caused the technical unemployment of around twelve people. The emergency services intervention ended at around 3 pm the next day. Traffic that had been temporarily disrupted on a nearby road was re-established. No details were given regarding possible damages to the refrigeration units using chloro-fluoro gas.

The fire would have started in an electrical room connected to a cold room. The inspection authorities for classified facilities asked the operator to provide a report on the causes and circumstances of the accident.
