A fire broke out in a fabric production frame (automobile carpet) and on an oil cooling filter located in the upper part of an automobile textile manufacturing plant. This frame is a machine used for attaching the mesh of the fabric using a series of burners. The fire was linked to an accumulation of oil on the machine. The flames spread very quickly into the air exhaust ducts, causing significant damage. The power sources were cut off and the 40 employees were evacuated. The damaged room was locked while the 2 damaged frames were being repaired. The gaseous waste purification system was out-of-order. After repairing the frames, the operator resumed production with no filtering system causing complaints from residents (unpleasant odours). The inspection authorities for classified facilities drew up reports establishing the facts. The operator confirmed by letter that the purification system replacement work would take place during the summer holidays and that the conditions before the fire would be re-established after 21 August.
