Around 10:30 am, tetrachloroethylene fumes were released due to a leak at a dry cleaning shop located inside the shopping mall adjacent to a large supermarket, causing discomfort to 33 individuals onsite. Ten of them, suffering from more serious irritations to their eyes and skin, had to be hospitalised. Fire-fighters and police set up a safety perimeter and evacuated some 1,500 people. The shopping centre resumed normal activity around 1:15 pm. The leak, estimated at 3 litres of product, originated from a defective joint on the still of a washing machine.
