Shortly after 5 am, fire destroyed a 200 m² storage building and all its contents: finished felt products and 6,000 kg of resin. Fire-fighters set up 5 nozzles (1 mounted on a rotating ladder), using a local brook for water supply. They controlled the blaze within 2 hours and extracted the inventory using an earthworks vehicle in order to complete the extinction step. Authorities logged a report. During the production process, felt was being bound by means of thermal bonding, with the shreds being mixed with a heated plastic substance that served as a “glue”. According to the operator, the night shift’s production, stored inside the damaged building, caused the blaze; a smouldering cinder had remained in the felt layer thickness when exiting the thermal bonding shop. A similar fire had already occurred 18 months prior. After this second fire, a hotspot detector is installed at the exit of the manufacturing station.
