At a classified cow breeding facility, an 850cu.m semi-enclosed pit of liquid manure broke at night. The accident was discovered around 9 am the next morning, as 700 m³ of product had already spilled on a hillside reaching a pit used for water disposal towards the Margon brook, emptying into the Morge River, which due to its high flow rate was polluted over a 10-km stretch. Fire-fighters set up a dam composed of hay bales in the pit and a floating dam (?) on the Morge. Absorbent substances were spread along the polluted riverbanks. A specialised subcontractor treated the recovered pollutants. The operator had the spilled liquid manure spread on fields.
