In a metal gate and framework company, a fire in a building housing a boiler, two 5,000 l hydrocarbon tanks and a painting booth spread to the entire establishment. Around thirty fire-fighters controlled the fire within two hours using four water and foam hoses. The boiler, which may have caused the fire, had been brought back into operation at around 5:30 pm on the day before following its annual service before the heating season and no anomalies had been noted. Several dozen kg of paint and solvents, the application booth, three vehicles and part of the buildings were destroyed. As a precaution, a specialist company drained and disposed of the two metal tanks of fuel oil and diesel oil that had withstood the fire. A proportion of the fire extinguishing water polluted with traces of hydrocarbons flowed into a neighbouring stream. However, according to the fisheries office present on site, the environment was not affected. The health services were nevertheless informed given the presence of a drinking water borehole downstream of the discharge. The inspection authorities for classified facilities asked the operator to rectify the administrative situation of its paint activity.
