Ethyl acrylate vapour leaked from a manhole on one of the polymerisation reactors of a plastics plant. A technician was poisoned by the vapours when sealing off the leak. Fire-fighters measured no presence of CO or VOC. A chemical emergency squad, which had also taken acrylate concentration measurements, reported a Draeger concentration of below than the detection threshold. The employee affected and 3 others present in the workshop were hospitalised for examinations.
