In a disused former surface treatment workshop of a furniture manufacturing factory, a fire broke out at 12:45 pm in a retention tank (30 m x 3 m x 2 m) following the ignition of a 60 l drum of stripping product containing 90% dichloromethane and non-flammable tetrachloroethylene, and 10% flammable methyl alcohol. The wind rapidly dissipated the fumes and no noticeable environmental impact was observed. Property damage and operating losses were marginal. The activity of the neighboring shops is interrupted for half a day.

The incident was caused by the proximity of a radiator used for protecting the storage area from frost. The operator will no longer use the substance in question.
