At a paper mill, fire destroyed a building housing 400-m³ of flax straw. Some 50 fire-fighters were deployed and prevented the blaze from propagating to the industrial site’s other buildings or to a 90-kVA transformer. One employee was injured. Extinction water was channelled into the site’s retention basin. Clean-up work, which lasted several hours, was complicated by the risk of the ignited building potentially collapsing.

The fire, which began due to the straw being heated, ignited in a straw bale while a delivery lorry was being unloaded, before spreading to the entire storage zone.
