At a dry cleaners located inside a shopping mall, 50 litres of hot tetrachloroethylene spilled onto the floor subsequent to malfunction of the still door. The vapours released intoxicated 14 individuals, of whom 7 required hospitalisation. The police set up a safety perimeter and evacuated some 40 people in and around the site. Fire-fighters, wearing self-breathing apparatuses, recovered the product and ventilated the shop. The mall was reopened 2 hours later, once the affected sector had been isolated.
