At a site that had remained derelict since 1997 and was undergoing dismantling, fire broke out when a subcontractor cut into a naphthalene tank using a weld torch. A thick cloud of non-toxic, yet highly-irritating, black smoke spread in the direction of two neighbouring towns. Firefighters used foam and were able to quickly contain the blaze without any casualties.
