A child collecting scrap metal at a household waste landfill fell into a discharge nozzle 1 m in diameter and 10 m deep. The child was asphyxiated by a strong hydrogen sulphide concentration. In trying to save the victim, an adult passed out and died shortly after being hospitalised. A court prosecutor and the local gendarmerie carried out an investigation to determine the corresponding liabilities.
