What happens when the world’s third-largest economy is simultaneously hit by a once-in-a-century earthquake and once-in-a-millennium tsunami ?

Two years after the media coverage of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident, this overview provides insight into the primary accidents that occurred on industrial sites in several key sectors of Japan’s economy that were hit by the earthquake and/or the tsunami of March 11th, 2011.

It also sheds light on the environmental consequences of these industrial accidents and the challenge of managing the waste created by the tsunami.
